Corporate Headshots – Is It Necessary?

Do I really need Corporate Headshots of myself now? Or is it a MUST in this climate?

If you are a big fan of Game Of Thrones, you know the winter is not just coming, it is here and the white walkers are just on the north wall. Oh, it’s the economic winter that we are talking about.

We have seen the 18000 jobs being slashed in Deutsche Bank worldwide, then Barclays, the HSBC and other banks follow suit, and government stats saying that unemployment rate is on the rise. Yes bad news upon bad news and what is coming is everyone’s guess. However, winter is great for those who are ready for them.

Maybe you’re a fresh graduate and about to step into the working world, not sure what or how you are going to get to that job yet. Have you prepared your photo for your CV to compete with experienced workers?

It is said that a picture tells a thousand words and it is the first impression of you of whether you are given the opportunity for the interview. Do you have your professional headshot for your fighting chance?

Still unsure? We’re here to help!

Have You Been Doing This?

Our experience shows that majority of people haven’t been looking for work in the past 2-3 years, and the last time they have their corporate images taken were from 4-6 years ago.

Have you been using an old photo of yourself? Or maybe been cropping a group photo to just your face? Or have you been using your selfie images?

If you have been doing these, it’s a sign you need to do a corporate headshots for yourself.

There’s nothing wrong with these images on a personal level, but your photos should represent the kind of person you are and still be taken seriously and professionally. Stand out from the rest, a professionally done corporate headshot is a much needed tool in today’s tough job market.

Why Do I Need Corporate Headshots For?

1. Resume

Even if you’re not looking for new jobs, it’s always important to be earlier prepared. You may never know the importance of it till you need it urgently. It’s important to have a professional headshot of you because a photo speaks a thousand words more quickly than what’s written on your resume. It’s the first impression.

2. It’s been requested by your current company

Your company may want to build a brand image with the help of consistent images of the team on the company’s website, brochures, announcements, annual reports or even for company events.

3. Be searchable on LinkedIn

You can decide on the vibe you’d like to give out, professional yet approachable, professional yet casual, fun or however you need it to be! But still being taken seriously with a professional photo, and not a pixelated image from your phone.

4. Networking

When you’re out for work events or even if you’ve bumped into a stranger who is from a company you’d be open to get to know with, a business card will definitely come in handy! Business cards are great for you to easily be contacted. Nowadays, there’s even digital business cards, so a professional headshot is important to put a face to your contact details.

5. Personal branding

If you’ve started your own business, you need to ensure your targeted audience understand your visions as a company through a congruent style that reflects that. This applies to your personal headshots as well!

6. Personal Images for Social Medias

Be it Facebook or Twitter, we need a professional photo taken of us to encapsulate the kind of person we are out there!

This is the time where you need to stand out, a normal passport photo picture of yourself is not going to cut it where there are more people fighting for the job that you are after.

Invest in a few professional headshots of yourself, and simply enjoy the shoot experience while we do the rest. A simple photo can help to even boost your confidence in yourself and the skills you present. Be proud of yourself, you’ve come a long way!

8 Tips to Dressing Your Bump! | What to Wear for Your Maternity Photoshoot

Doing your Maternity Photoshoots soon or still can’t decide what to wear?

We understand the dilemma of selecting that perfect wardrobe can be daunting.

After thousands of maternity shoots, let us help you! Here are some tips…

Outfit Inspiration for Mummies

1. Maxi Dress

Maxi dresses are perfect for maternity shoots as they are very comfortable and flattering. It’s great for showing off your beautiful baby bump, but can also cover up any ‘problem areas’. The dress can be halter neck, 3/4 sleeved, off-shoulders or even sleeveless, take your pick!

2. Body Hugging Clothing

Body hugging clothing looks great to show off those beautiful pregnancy curves. It’s simple and keeps the attention drawn to your tummy and you.

3. Solid Colours

We recommend solid colours as this would help your bump stand out the most. Simple solid color focus the attention on your baby bump.

4. Bare Your Bump

If you’d like to show off your bare bump, we recommend wearing a solid, coloured tube and matching bottom. You can also wear crop tops or a shirt with buttons undone and matching bottoms/denims (non-maternity type) to show off the shape of your bump

5. Texture Texture Texture

You can make your photos look more interesting by wearing clothing with different textures. It’s a great alternative to prints or patterns, and adds more dimension to your photos. You can wear an embroidered top, lace dress or pair your denim jeans with a cotton shirt. Be creative!

6. For More Intimate/Sensual Images

If you’re thinking of doing a more intimate and sensual shoot, we recommend bringing along some nice lingerie or sheer baby doll dresses in soft muted colours.

Sheer, lace robes are also perfect for that soft romantic look. They show off your baby bump but also help hide any unflattering areas.

If you’re thinking of getting your own robes, we recommend the robes from Bell & Birds! You can check out our blogpost to see how we styled these robes during a maternity studio and milk bath shoot. We also have an exclusive discount code for Bambini’s clients, use “Bambini10” to get 10% off all purchases from their online store!

Or go for something edgy, robes like these or even a leather jacket works too!

7. Simply Use What We Have In The Studio

Feeling tired, out of wits, out of time, simply not sure or whatever reasons, no worries!

We have a selection of clothing and materials in our studio too, just let us know beforehand so we can get ready some ideas and prep the fabric drapes, dresses, tubes and bottoms for your maternity photo shoot!

We will style it up for you! Some mummies prefer to go completely bare under the drapes, if not you can bring nude/black/white coloured undies to wear underneath.

8. Modest Wear

Modest wear has been on a rising trend and here’s some ideas how you can match it up for your maternity session with us. We look most beautiful when we feel confident and comfortable with ourselves. With that, the photos will show your pregnancy glow too.

Impressive service, exceptional photography. We booked a family/maternity shoot for a weekend morning, but when the day arrived, everything seemed to go wrong: my makeup artist was a no-show and my daughter was sick and very cranky as a result. We nearly wanted to postpone the shoot, but decided not to in the end. Our photographer, Fatilyn, and another of the staff, Melissa, were very patient in handling our fussy child and managing the entire session. Still, I wasn’t too optimistic about the outcome, until I saw the photos, which were sent to us the very next day. They are of great quality and we couldn’t have asked for a better set of photos despite the circumstances that day! – Clarice Ting

Empty Nest Syndrome?

During a recent gathering of a few friends that we have known since primary school, we naturally talked about life and our parents. A friend of mine then brought up the topic of Empty Nest Syndrome…. Something that I didn’t even know it exist.

We grow quickly under our parents’ care and when it’s time for us to explore the world with or without them, our parents start to feel that they are losing us.

Let’s face it! Parenting is NEVER EASY!

There is no textbook that we can refer to… No Step by Step Manual. We sort of do a bit of trial and error and learn along the way – and hopefully we do the right thing and our kids turn out well. We worry non-stop from the second they are born. We’ve seen and heard a 86-year-old granny worry about her 63-year-old daughter!

Just when you thought the tough part (raising your kids) is over, it can even get tougher now sometimes right? Every stage of parenting is a challenge, never the same. We can only look forward and hope the next phase is easier than before.

We are so used to our kids needing us when they were younger, and now our babies are all grown and independent.

We try to be their ‘friend’ especially when they hit the tween/teen/young adult stage. Well, at least that’s what most experts would advise parents when the kids are more or less grown up.

But now that your kids are older and they don’t depend on you wholly like they once used to, it’s hard to gather the whole family together because everyone has their own plans. Even when the family gathers, the vision of everyone on their phone versus “real-life” chatting keeps crawling into my mind. How then can we reminisce the bond, the moment, the time we have together without the screen? Especially when these days the information on the internet keeps everyone more busy than before with their eyes glued to the screen.

Sometimes when you’ve already prepared dinner, your kids called in last minute (if they call) saying that they couldn’t make it because they forgot they’ve got a friend’s birthday dinner. Then you start to wonder – didn’t they plan ahead to have quality time with us as well? Why does it seem like their friends are everything and we’re just in the background?

As parts and parcels of kids growing up, we definitely have been there before. It’s confusing and tough being teens these days, especially at this age where they’re figuring out who they are supposed to be. They might have just started their first adult job, got a boyfriend/girlfriend, or even just still in tertiary school.

The sudden change is kinda tough for us to just simply think past it, but you’re never alone!

Where Did All That Time Go?

It seems like yesterday that they were just a baby…… At times, we feel like we’ve ran out of time with our children. Time flew by so quickly – did we even have enough time when we were all younger?

You’re not overreacting for feeling this way, because all your life, you’ve been their guardian. But we can’t help wondering why the kids feel the same way. Don’t they miss us just as how we miss them?

Sometimes love given, is not love received… One of the ways we know of that help us remember our kids is memories in tangible form eg. photos in an album, photo on the wall, photo on the desk.

You have influence over the things your children remember and your family photos are evidences to remind them of your love. The ones with you in it! ;) Not just the pictures you took of them in your phone.

Take Out Their Childhood & Family Photos

Sometimes looking at our family photos, images from their childhood are really what makes the difference. Our children are reminded of our love for them, all the hugs and kisses we gave abundantly that they might not enjoy THAT much once they hit the teenager phase…

From our personal experience, after we have gone past the rebellious teenager phase, we feel we want to re-ignite the family spirit as well after looking at the family memory photos and to keep the unit tight after understanding what our parents have done for us throughout the time we were growing up.

Your family portraits not only influence what your children remember from their childhood, but also how they feel about family relationships. Regardless of how busy you are, how little you get to see your kids when you were making ends meet. You made it a point to get the family portrait done.

When they think about you, what first come to their mind? You decide.

And if you’d like to find a family activity to do together, why not be intentional and plan a family photoshoot with us to capture keepsake memories?

WHY FAMILIES DO PROFESSIONAL PHOTOSHOOTS

Display Your Memories

All our life we’ve always wanted to know on our own and let our kids know that they have a happy family that has their back always. And as parents, we wish that our children can live harmoniously in future when they grow up, from their happy childhood together.

Your family portraits are not just to celebrate the present, to show your families and friends at gatherings – they are shaping you and your children’s future. Have them taken, print them out, display them everywhere at home. And your home will be a constant reminder of the joy, love and delight your relationships with one another have been.

No matter how big or small, how diverse, how unconventional, how normal. Display your family portraits at home, in your office, your bathroom, your wallet. Because trust us, it is this little thing that you’d look back time and again that will put a smile on your face when you caught sight of your family on the framed photo or even the one tuck in your purse.

If you would like to plan a session to capture your memories with your family, just drop us an email at info@bambiniphoto.sg or WhatsApp us at +65 8717 1558 and we’ll guide you through from there!

.........The photoshooting experience was wonderful. I was almost in tears when I saw my parents getting close again when posing for the shoots. The laughter and joy filled up the studio. Tks for our photographer Illiyin to make this happened and she handled kids so well. Our boys missed her the moment we left the studio..........

Why Having Printed Photos Are So Important

School’s Out – Build Your Memory Bank With Your Family

So you’ve ended up here! Maybe you’ve tried googling what to do during your kid’s school holidays because you’ve ran out of ideas. Holidays can be stressful at times especially when the kids get a little mischievous. But then again, holidays shouldn’t have to be this hard right? Remember just like how our school holidays once were with our parents?

As parents ourselves, we get that horrible feeling of not being able to spend enough time with our kids during school days just to keep the family going and to put food on the table.

Demands of our work can be unforgiving that it keeps us glued to our phones even when our kids are around. And when it’s time for us to take a breather, we spend time scrolling on our phones during the holidays as a form of unwinding and distressing from so much responsibilities at work or school.

When I look back at a photo of myself when I was a kid, at a swimming pool together with my whole family during a school holiday, I feel the same emotions as when the photo was captured even 10-20 years later. The rush of adrenaline – feeling real lucky to be alive, having spent the time with the people I love.

Love transcends time, and I think photos are the time machine we’ve always wished we could build.

But do you find yourself wishing you have more photos during the 2000/2010s era? Our parents took a lot of photos of us when we were kids, but our memory bank slowly reduced during our young adult/teenager phase. What happened to the other holidays and celebrations?

Are we guilty of taking advantage of the convenience we have from compact cameras and smartphones, just storing the photos somewhere in the iCloud?

To be honest, I can’t remember much of the memories during the memory bank “gap” period because…
1. I didn’t “have the time” to take proper photos and print them out to look at and remember
2.
I can’t even remember the photos I took with my phone because of the convenience of the smartphones – we’re always snapping photos, sometimes without much thought put in
3. Our p
hotos are then just stored in the iCloud, piled under the new photos we’ve taken, along with screenshots/photos for work etc…

And learning from this, our suggestion is to always print them out.

Holidays give us time to explore life together with our loved ones. Even if you spend it at hawker centres, or just driving around Singapore idly, we find strength from our emotional memories & bond that is nurtured through family time, especially for our children. Remember that’s what our parents did for us?

We can see that in the photos that our parents took so that we can hold onto the memories, and cherish it forever.

Holidays need not be always extra special, it can even be an everyday activity with plenty more time to spend together with our kids. Go out and intentionally spend time with your kids and family, make every moment count no matter how small the activity is.

Capture and print the memories… because when they grow older, they have photos to look back and remember us and the times we spent together.

You know where you can find us if you need help with this… Just hit us up at +65 8717 1558 or drop us an email at  info@bambiniphoto.sg and we’ll help you from there.
