What makes one an exceptional newborn photographer, besides his or her uncanny knowledge in controlling light, textures, shadows and angles, are their abilities to bide time – waiting for the perfect opportunity before they click the shutter – and to understand and read behaviours of newborns.

An exceptional photographer is someone who has learned to anticipate moments, to predict a newborn’s need, knowing how to sooth wailing babies, and where to touch in the face to make a tot grin for the camera.

It is not through sheer chance that we become one of the leading Singapore newborn photographers. When our parent company, Tomato Photo started a decade ago, newborn photography was almost unheard of in Singapore. Most new parents are still sticking to the traditions of confinements, not keen on the idea of going out of the house before the 30-days period- much less having to be photographed. The trends are changing, words got around and newborn photography gained an edge these days, as modern parents realised the importance of capturing memories of their little bundle at their early stages of being born.

The soft skills our photographers learned did not come naturally. Each go ‘excruciating’ yet memorable moments of being urinated on, pooped on, vomited on and from one diapers to another. All the mentioned soft skills required to be a baby whisperers are earned through hard work and working and photographing different newborns in various circumstances.

Newborn photography is usually done in the studio or home during the first two weeks of birth when the baby requires lengthy stretches of sleep and still at a very “mold-able” state. Each session often lasted for up to three hours with nursing, nappy changing breaks in between. For mothers who are still recovering from delivery, they can always opt to have a photoshoot to be done at home.

There is no one way to doing newborn photography, some parents prefer a minimalistic approach for an artistic results, other parents want a natural, lifestyle approach that captures essences of their young family. To achieve good results, we place great emphasis on communicating with clients to understand their expectations and wants.

The beauty of this type of photography is capturing the uniqueness and details of each baby- the Mongolian blue spots, tiny toes and fingers, distinctive cheeky grins, wispy hair, the sweet little yawn, anguish expression before they bawled. Even intimate feeding moments between mom and baby can evoke many treasured memories for years to come.

Babies grow up fast, in a blink of an eye, memories could have easily become fuzzy. It is precisely why this type of photography are so important.

Tips for those who are keen to engage us for your newborn babies, simply talk to us about what you want and not want. Involve siblings into the family picture, and bring along precious mementos that you want to include during photoshoot.

We’ll be more than happy to answer your queries, simply drop us an email at info@bambiniphoto.sg so we can chat further about creating your family moments.

Why Photographs matter… | Newborn, Maternity, Family Photography | Bambini Gift Vouchers

“I would part with my wallet, phones and camera but definitely try to negotiate for my memory card”, said a friend, when asked a hypothetical question of what she would do during a tussle with a robber.

Call it bravery or lunacy, we can all agree that the statement above hold some truths. Ask your friends or people about what they when they have to vacate their homes during an emergency, chances are they would take their most prized photographs along with important documents.

The impulse to save our recorded memories is a powerful testament that tells us much about the importance of photography in our lives, and also the desire to capture and immortalise our most precious moments into images.

Photographs are wonderful thing. When we are happy we like to look at them, to remember the joyous occasions. And we do the same thing when we’re feeling down or sad. We scroll the photos on our social media account and reminisce upon photo albums that have keenly served as serve as a tangible memoir to help us remember essentially the great past times with people we care about. Also in a lot of cases, to remember the ones who have left us behind.

We couldn’t think of any person who would not like to be photographed. Maybe there are individuals out there, but perhaps their numbers are few to come.

Presenting someone with a photography session that they and their families can enjoy is thoroughly a rewarding thing. We have yet to come across any family who refuses to be photographed, in actuality, most would jump at the chance to have their moments captured.

From small things big things grow | Studio Photography Singapore

It’s no secret that we’ve gotten bigger, just as the babies we’ve photographed, we too are growing.

As family photographers we are always on the lookout to inject different and fun backdrops to include in our indoor photoshoot session.

Therefore, we are excited to unveil a new studio that we’ve recently acquired and revamped! It’s no secret that we’ve gotten bigger, just like our growing number of families, we need an equally bigger space to accommodate everyone.

For those who’ve been to our studio at Ubi, our new studio is just a door down from our current one. It can house bigger families, so you can include ah gong, ah ma, your third aunt to tenth aunt for a grand family portrait.

Here is  glimpse of the space that we have. You can do a touch and go from end-to-end. Children now have bigger areas to run around, cycle and just have fun!

We have taken thousands of photos outdoors and indoors and both provide very different vibes to your family photos. We love both outdoor and indoor but just for today, let us talk more about the benefits of photographing indoor with studio equipments.

Perfection at every angle
The weather in Singapore can be quite unpredictable. Sometimes it is sunny before the onset of rain. Your makeup and clothing [especially the children] can get soiled and dirty because of outdoor elements. Sun glares can potentially resulted in distorted light patches in photos.

Classic and artistic
Shoots taken in photography studio are usually more formal with serious undertone than those taken outdoors. For you who would like to opt for an elegant portrait that can be cherished for a long time, studio can be a great option to create a polished photos that will impress those who see them.

Clean lighting or dim lighting? Not a problem
Photography is about “playing” with lights. The ability to control lighting is one skill that most top photographers possess. In the studio, we have full control of lighting to ensure consistency in your photographs. Through the play of lights, we can create different mood that you want to see in your family portrait. Now that’s something!

Going crazy with background
Possibly one of the best thing in any photo studio. You can achieve so much with different backdrops. To bring out your colourful personality, change the backdrop to your vibrant colour. To get a classic and timeless look, you can set the mood with dark and nude backdrop anytime.

Convenience and parking spot guaranteed!
The key to shooting outdoor is communication and to ensuring that location is properly relayed to our customer. One wrong exit and you’d end up going in circles to find the promised meeting point.
Photographing indoor eliminates all that, because venue is fixed and most importantly parking spot is guaranteed. Also it can be very helpful for families with small children and elderly who are physically challenged. You also don’t have to worry about toilets and amenities, because we have all that.

A must for all newborn photoshoot
Shooting indoors for newborn is not something that is set in stone but likely, the best place when it comes to newborn photography. Mothers will have a private space to nurse with access to hot water, diapers, and toilet.

Now we’ve listed it out. The next time you’re in dilemma whether to have your photo session indoor or outdoor, you can read this and make your choice.

Talk to our photographer about what you want to with your photos. Do you want a large canvas prints, artwork paper, conventional photos or just in digital formats? We have done, sealed and delivered them all.

If you want to know more or plain convinced that you want us to be your photographer, drop us an email at info@bambiniphoto.sg.

A Mothers’ Touch | Maternity Newborn Family Outdoor Photography

“The greatest heroes in life are those that never give up on someone. They stick it out and make it work. They sacrifice things in their life, in order to help others grow. They give up what they want because someone needs it more. They work hard and overcome adversity. They fail for a moment, but get back up on their feet to show others they don’t have to stay down. They show their loved ones that love is not “proved” by conformity. They teach others that having a voice is a sign of courage, and they will not stay silent to make people feel comfortable. They are fearless and will do whatever it takes to bring about the greatness in the ones they love because doing so brings them peace. Their name is—MOM.”

Shannon L. Alder

As the topic suggests, today we are going to talk about mothers and motherhood. With Mother’s Day drawing near, we couldn’t think of a more appropriate time to acknowledge their presence, thus we are dedicating this blog to all women who have yet to become mothers, mothers-to-be, women who have mothered and women who have become grandmothers.

Mothers, the highly-complex creatures who have us cowering in fear, look up in admiration, made sure we never go hungry, turned to when feeling troubled, shoulders to cry on, that very special being who seemed to always be there when we need them- for most of us who are lucky to have them still.

We, at Bambini Photography is fortunate to have met and photographed mothers-  young, old, feisty, classy, strong, courage, caring, dramatic, brave, placid, overbearing, emotional, subservient, dominant, soft, dependable and the lists go on. There never seemed to be enough adjectives, positive and negative that can and have been used to describe mothers. They are wonderful and almost magical.

One of the perks of being a family photography company is that we get to interact and see them in action every single day.

We have met new mothers and help give some little tricks on how to calm their crying newborn during photoshoots.  We have also learned from experienced and gung-ho mothers when we witnessed them disciplining their kids when they get too unruly during their outdoor photography sessions. We have captured  family photographs made up of mothers that span three generations. We have fulfilled photo retouching requests from family who have lost their mothers.

From all that, we have awed, we have been touched and most of all, we have been taught- and that is the power that is bestowed upon mothers.

There is no one size-fits-all when it comes to mothering but one thing for certain, it is not an easy feat to be a mother. And no, we are not going to elaborate and tell you a story about the difficulty of labour and the immense pain it involved, we’ll save that for another day.

Today we would like to celebrate the sacrifice that all mothers have made for their children, small or big, significant and insignificant, they all deserve the same attention.

So to all mothers out there, we at Bambini Photography would like to raise our glasses for you, for everything you have done and have yet to do and for being you.

We hope to continue to be awed and inspired by mothers all around us, and to share that joy and experience we have with others.

If you nod your head when you read this, go up to your mom now and give them a hug. If they’re somewhere else, send them a text to let them know you’re thinking about them, If you are the ones who’ve grieved and lost your mother, call out to them in your prayers and thoughts. After all,  it is the little act and thoughts that count in the end.

For those of you who liked what you see and want to have your photos taken with your mom, have a family photography session or simply just want to find out more about the photography services we have in-house,  simply send us an email at info@bambiniphoto.sg. We promise to get back to you as soon as we can :)

And to you dads, fathers, papas, don’t feel left out because we’ll dedicate a blog to you all on Father’s Day.
