When Can You Take Pregnancy Announcement Photos?
There isn’t one correct time to photograph or share a pregnancy announcement.
Some couples choose to create announcement photographs earlier in the pregnancy, while others prefer to wait until later when the baby bump is more visible.
When you choose to share the news is personal. The photographs can be created according to when you feel ready to announce it.
Pregnancy Announcement Photoshoot Ideas
1. A Simple Couple Portrait
Sometimes the announcement doesn’t need elaborate props. A photograph of the two of you together can become the announcement when paired with the news you’re sharing.
2. Include An Ultrasound Image
An ultrasound image immediately gives context to the photograph and is one of the simplest ways to visually announce that your family is growing.
3. Baby Shoes Or A Small Baby Item
A pair of baby shoes, clothing or another small item can be incorporated into the photograph to represent the new arrival.
4. Include Your Older Child
For families expecting another baby, an older sibling can become part of the announcement; turning the photograph into both a pregnancy announcement and a record of the family just before it grows again.

One Pregnancy, More Than One Milestone
Some families choose to photograph more than one stage of the pregnancy.
Sanche and Li Meng, whom we had previously photographed for their first maternity session and an extended family photoshoot, wanted to document the journey of expecting their second child.
Their photographs included an early pregnancy announcement, with the option of documenting later pregnancy milestones as the baby bump grew.
Other families prefer to photograph everything in one maternity session later in pregnancy.
There isn’t one right way to do it — it depends on which parts of the journey matter to you.

Yes. If you’re planning to announce the pregnancy later, announcement photographs can be incorporated into your maternity session.
This allows you to create a few photographs specifically for sharing the news, together with your maternity portraits and photographs with your partner or children.
