Themed sitter photoshoots are designed for babies who can sit independently and comfortably, but aren’t yet constantly on the move.
Unlike our classic sitter portraits, where the focus stays simple and timeless, themed sitter photographs introduce selected backdrops, outfits and props to create something more playful around your baby’s personality.
Your baby remains the focus. The theme simply gives them a little world to explore while we photograph their expressions and reactions.
A themed sitter setup can be photographed on its own or included alongside sibling and parents during the session.

Why Is The Sitter Stage Good For A Themed Photoshoot?
Once baby can sit independently, they can interact with the setup in ways that weren’t possible during the earlier months.
Rather than expecting a particular pose, we can photograph how baby responds naturally to the props and surroundings, their curiosity, smiles, concentration and sometimes complete indifference!
The result is less about making baby “perform” a theme and more about photographing their personality within it.
When Is Baby Ready For A Themed Sitter Photoshoot?
Your baby is ready once they can sit independently and comfortably without needing to be held in position.
Some babies reach this stage earlier and others later, so we don’t recommend choosing the session purely according to age.
Tell us what your baby is currently able to do and we’ll help you decide whether they’re ready for the setup.

What To Expect From A Themed Sitter Photoshoot
Before the session, let us know which of our available themed setups you prefer.
The setups use a combination of selected backdrops and props to create a playful setting for your baby to interact with.
You are also welcome to bring a favourite toy or small personal item that is familiar to your baby. Where suitable, we can incorporate it into the photographs.
During the session, your photographer will guide the shoot around baby’s responses rather than expecting them to hold a particular expression or pose.

Our themed setups range from adventurous and playful to softer floral and storybook-inspired looks.

Choose the look you like rather than worrying about whether a particular theme is intended for a boy or girl.
What If I Don’t Want A Themed Photoshoot?
A themed setup is only one way to photograph the sitter milestone.
If you prefer something simpler, you can choose classic sitter portraits focusing on baby and their expressions.
If your baby enjoys bath time, Sitter Baby Milk Bath is another playful option.
Or the session can focus more on photographs of baby with Mum, Dad and siblings.

Can We Include Family Photographs Too?
Yes.
A themed sitter setup can be photographed as part of a larger session that also includes classic photographs of baby with Mum, Dad and siblings.
This is useful if you’d like to preserve the sitter milestone while also updating your family photographs at the same time.
