Themed Sitter Baby Photo Shoot – What Is It?

We are pretty sure that by now, you have seen lots of professional baby photos in cutesy poses and props. Either you have seen them on your news feeds, calendars, greeting cards, posters, coffee table books or have known of friends of a friend who have had those photos taken before.

Where Was It All Inspired From?

The name Anne Geddes might sound foreign to you but I am very sure you would have seen her work or even own one! Anne Geddes was once the Queen of Baby Photography (based on the ArtNet News by Noor Brara on 30 April 2020) and has sold more than 18 million books and 13 million calendars worldwide! Inspired by reading bedtime stories to her young daughters, Anne began to envision fairytale telling through photography which lead to the creation of her first book “Down in the Garden”. It was New York Times Best Seller and this book changed the face of children’s photography globally and launched Anne’s international career as bestselling author.

For first time mums, you’d think that all the baby photos taken are all the same. If THAT baby can fit in a bucket, mine can too! If that baby can curl up and suck their toes, I’m pretty sure mine at 11 months old can too!…… Or is it really? Keep reading to find out why in reality, doesn’t happen anytime, any age.

First year is the time where baby goes through tremendous growth and development. Baby’s 1st Year Milestones

5-10 Days Old Newborn Baby

This is the best time to capture early memories of your baby’s life with their fresh wrinkly skin in all their sleepy and snuggly glory when they are still so tiny and in their tight foetal position.

3 Months/ 100 Days Milestone

Some traditions and customs celebrates the first 100 days of a baby birth as a sign that baby would live to see their first birthday. Besides celebrating their good health and bestowing sweet smiles on you, your little one may start rolling over laughing and chuckling as well. Baby might protest when placed on her tummy but she needs tummy time on a daily basics for exercising her neck, chest and arm muscles.

Sitters Milestone – 6-9 Months

Some of baby’s big achievements include sitting up independently, doing ‘sit & reach‘, and attempting to “respond” to peek-a-boos, music and sounds. Baby might even have his/her own opinions now and show you with those cute cheeky expressions. Download Sitter Lookbook.

Crawler Milestone – 9-11 Months

Your baby might be an all-four crawler, three-legger crawler, commando crawler or could also be a forward/backward ‘bum shifter”!

If baby hasn’t started crawling, he/she might try to push up on his hands and knees to explore movement. Being curious, baby will also likely be grabbing his/her favourite toys and holding objects.

One Year Old Birthday

Reaching the one year old mark is a big deal for both your baby and yourself as this calls for a celebration. This is a major milestone as baby’s personality has begin to blossom and is not shy about expressing their preferences for people and activities. Baby may already be standing and cruising along while holding on furnitures or your hands while trying to take steps. Some babies would have started to walk but not quite know how to ‘brake’ yet.

12-18 Mths Toddler – Walk, Run, Hop

During this time, they are more confident walkers who knows when and how to apply their ‘brakes’, and will then move on to developing their running and hopping skills. Memories of them being happy & carefree at this milestone — Priceless!

Why Sitter Milestone Session?

Why Now?

We get it! Parent’s are overwhelmed in the early days after baby arrives and by the time they remember they want to do a newborn photoshoot, they missed the optimum 2 week window.

At about 6-9 months, parents have:

more or less eased into the baby’s routine,
gotten over the initial shock on lifestyle changes from 2 to 3;
have perhaps been able to have longer uninterrupted sleep.
lost some postpartum weight.
got back to working and trying hard to balance work and home life without feeling guilty either way.

Hence found the courage and motivation to arrange for baby’s photoshoot before the baby grows even more.

Furthermore, once they discover their next milestone of cruising/walking, they would be more interested in trying and practicing to get to their next milestone instead of sitting down or being on their tummy doing the cobra pose for you. (tell me about baby’s instinctive desire to do better, to improve, to learn! We adults need to keep up!)

When & How To Book?

Every baby is unique. Some can sit up independently at 6 months, some at 8 months.

Hence, like newborn photography, you book ahead before your child sit up independently, so we can always adjust the shooting time once they are ready. We often hear mothers saying that they are feeling guilty for missing out on something important for their child. Time passes quickly. Mothers, you tend to be the superwomen at home and need to take care of everything. Without you knowing it, your baby start to crawl and miss this milestone! You simply don’t want to add this to your endless list of guilt that you could have got it done it before.

Themed Sitter Milestone Sessions are usually done in our studio and can be an add-on to a family photoshoot; or a standalone mini shoot for baby only.

What’s So Special About Baby Milk Bath Photoshoot?

Before anything you might already be asking yourself if baby milk bath photography should be in your considerations in the first place.

“The normal classic baby photoshoot or the baby milk bath shoot?”

What is it that makes it so special that I should do a baby milkbath shoot? Is it worth it?”

And then, you might find yourself contemplating between doing a 100 Days Baby Milkbath or the Sitters Baby Milkbath. So hard to make choices sometimes!

100 Days Baby Milkbath photoshoot are for babies who are not able to sit just yet, while Sitters Baby Milkbath are for babies who can already sit independently on their own (and have not started walking).

100 Days Baby Milkbath

For 100 Days Baby Milkbath, we like to have mummies to join in the shots. You will be holding onto them on your laps while the both of you are in the adult tub. Enjoy your time in the tub playing and interacting with your baby while we take some shots at it. This is such a beautiful continuation, if you had previously done Maternity Milkbath photoshoot as well.

3 Months Baby Milkbath Studio Photoshoot

Isn’t it weird that sometimes we find our babies so different suddenly?

Almost like a different baby altogether?

They look so different, no longer looking like mummy but looking more like papa now. They’ve started to respond more and respond differently.

New personalities has started to show too!

Your now-chubbier baby has hit another significant milestone, 100 days on this earth.

And so so many accomplishments…

We love to capture that and so, we also do some shots of your little bub lying down on their own in a baby tub, and time-freezing their expressions and reflexes.

On the other hand, for Sitters Milkbath photoshoot, we get to celebrate and capture their new milestone – sitting independently on their own in the baby tub (which is provided in our studio too).

As every babies are different, some may start to sit independently at 6 months, some at 8 months or some at 10 months. As long as they are able to sit one their own for a long time, that’s a good time for this shoot.

And how cute that they are still tiny but so full of different expressions! Capture your baby’s wonders and playfulness from this series.

Following the successful launch of our Maternity Milk Bath Photography in Studio, many clients have asked if they can do Baby Milk Bath Photoshoot as a continuation to their maternity photoshoot.

That’s right!

YES! We are so excited to embark on the continuation of the milk bath series with babies. All done in our studio with adult sized and baby sized tubs. All ingredients for the milk bath products are made in and imported from Japan.

You know how it goes for the first few months of having baby… restless, tired, constantly worried about the baby and now they are 3-months old and they are happy and smiley when you play with them. For those of you who have finally settled down after the initial blur of the first month or so of your newborn baby, this would be a perfect opportunity to catch up on preserving memories of their milestones.

For the lucky mummies on maternity leave, being intentional to make memories of them at this time is always a rewarding experience. Sink in the tub with them in our adult tub and/or photograph them alone in the baby tub to add to their memory bank.

Alternatively, baby milk bath photography is definitely a different way of celebrating a half-birthday without cakes! A ‘post bath-coma’ to ease them to nap afterwards never hurts too :p

Just in case you have some questions in mind about this milk bath series, we have answers for you below.

Who Is Suitable?

Baby Milk Bath is an especially special milestone to photograph babies who LOOOOOVEEE their bath time. They are all smiles and giggles when you put them in the tub, and starts kicking and splashing once they are in water. They feel comfortable, calm and playful. They exude so much personality and accomplishments during their favourite activity of the day.

Why Do Baby Milk Bath Photoshoot?

There are a numerous of reasons why mummies ask for and do baby milkbath photoshoots. We have listed them below.

1. They have done Maternity Milk Bath Photoshoot and want a continuation of their milkbath photo shoot journey with their baby.

2. They missed their newborn photoshoot and want to do a catch up shoot before they head back to work within the first 2-3 months.

3. They have seen others do it overseas. Now they are looking to to be one of the first few to do a milk bath photoshoot for their baby here in Singapore.

4. Their babies simply lovvvveeee being in water and enjoys their bath time and they would like to preserve these fleeting moments before they outgrow the baby bath tub.

5. Wants the best of both worlds to do some ‘dry’ classic baby shots and milkbath tub shots in one studio session.

6. Needs a proper family photo while they are still a baby.

Do Mummies Need To Be In The Tub?

If baby is still unable to sit up independently (eg. 2-3 months), we would advise mummy to be in the tub with them as well. This is for baby to feel familiar and comfortable in mummy’s presence.

Is It Safe?

Safety is our number 1 priority in doing photoshoots. We would never get clients to attempt a difficult pose if we feel it is not safe. Bambini Photography works especially well with clients who trust us. If you are unsure and have reservations, then we may not be a good fit for each other for this type of photography. We would suggest that you stick with the classic baby shoots.

Any Props?

We also use flowers or leaves, but if you’d like a plain and simple one, by all means that will be great too. We also have our own rubber duckies that could act as props or can be toys that babies play while capturing the shoot.

What To Bring?

Bring your baby’s favourite small bath toys and normal toys, and you being around to play with and sing to them. Your presence is something comfortable and familiar that will keep them relaxed during the shoot. Oh and do bring towels and clothes for them to change into after the shoot too!

What Should the Baby Wear?

Bring a couple of clothing for them during the ‘dry’ studio session. We do prefer them to be half naked for both dry and water shots. Putting swim diapers on for water shots so we can capture their cute tummy rolls and squishy arms! You could have them wear something simple as well, like an overall. And accessories are great too – a baby bow tie, grandpa hat or headbands (only if baby is usually ok to have head gears on their head).

Is Baby Clothing Provided?

We do have some baby clothing available in studio. However, do bring some along to personalise the shoot for your baby.

What Should Mummy Wear?

For the family shot, do bring wear similar toned coloured clothing with baby and other half. For the milk bath part, mummy can wear similarly to maternity photoshoots. Bring along your nude, white and black undergarments and put on your best smiles. We have robes and fabrics in studio for you to use if needed.

Now What?

Our professionally design studio create an optimum environment for milkbath both for mummy and baby. The water is heated, the air temperature is controlled so it is at comfortable temperature. Of course you will have the large studio (size of executive suites of hotel room of ~800sqft) all for yourself during the shoot while our photographer will guide you through the whole process so you know exactly what to do during the shoot.

Once you have decided that this is it, all you have to do is to bring yourselves and enjoy your precious time as a family. Thats our aim and vision to preserve memories of families. We love families and the joy the babies bring to their family, and we hope we can capture that for you. We also have the tubs prepared in our studio, so just book and have fun!
