When Is The Best Time For Your Baby Photoshoot? | Baby Milkbath Photography

We’re asked this often, “When is the best time for baby’s photoshoot?”

And we would really just like to tell you anytime is a good time for us…

But let’s look at why at 100 days or around the 3rd month, it is one of the best time for some pictures too!

Why 100 Days Baby Photoshoot?

1) Tradition? Perhaps… but this is what we’ve heard… 100 days commemorates the full 1 year from the time you conceive, and it signifies the hope for the baby to live to a 100 years old.

2) It’s the time when your baby is all chub chub and baby rolls are your latest obsession and how you just can’t get enough of those fishball cheeks, so much so you just want to keep kissing them!

3) More Experience in Handling Your Baby

How you’ve experience such a steep learning curve when your newborn just entered into the world and absolutely changed yours, but now at the 3rd or 4th month, you’ve gain better momentum and you’ve become quite the pro at handling your babe… Now you’re ready for some lights, camera and action!

4) You Might Still Be On Maternity Leave

If you’re having a 4months maternity leave, then you’re still be on leave! There’s more flexibility timing-wise, and on our part, we’ll do our best to find the timeslot you like and works well depending on your baby’s schedule.

5) Baby is More Alert & Engaging

At the 3rd/4th month, your baby at this age watches faces intently, recognizes familiar objects and people at a distance, smiles more, turns head towards the direction of sound, and all those tummy time and stretching – we will get those photos of your baby engaging and interacting with you more :)

6) New – Baby Milk Bath Photography In Studio

Last but not least, it’s because we’ve something new in store for your baby of 3 months and it is completely new in town!

And we like to introduce you to baby milk bath photography… What’s even better, you can just come soak and enjoy – like a spa for you and your babe!

More importantly, we use the best milk bath ingredients imported from Japan and it moisturizes your skin and smells really good too.

Is It Safe For 100 Days Young Baby?

You and your baby’s safety and comfort is also our topmost priority, we’ve added an imported bath tub as well as water temperature control system in our studio, so we can get ready the milkbath at the optimum temperature you need.

Capturing the beats of the hearts | Newborn Photography Singapore

A great newborn photographer knows how to work with angles, textures, plays with shadows to create depth.

What makes one an exceptional newborn photographer, besides his or her uncanny knowledge in controlling light, textures, shadows and angles, are their abilities to bide time – waiting for the perfect opportunity before they click the shutter – and to understand and read behaviours of newborns.

An exceptional photographer is someone who has learned to anticipate moments, to predict a newborn’s need, knowing how to sooth wailing babies, and where to touch in the face to make a tot grin for the camera.

It is not through sheer chance that we become one of the leading Singapore newborn photographers. When our parent company, Tomato Photo started a decade ago, newborn photography was almost unheard of in Singapore. Most new parents are still sticking to the traditions of confinements, not keen on the idea of going out of the house before the 30-days period- much less having to be photographed. The trends are changing, words got around and newborn photography gained an edge these days, as modern parents realised the importance of capturing memories of their little bundle at their early stages of being born.

The soft skills our photographers learned did not come naturally. Each go ‘excruciating’ yet memorable moments of being urinated on, pooped on, vomited on and from one diapers to another. All the mentioned soft skills required to be a baby whisperers are earned through hard work and working and photographing different newborns in various circumstances.

Newborn photography is usually done in the studio or home during the first two weeks of birth when the baby requires lengthy stretches of sleep and still at a very “mold-able” state. Each session often lasted for up to three hours with nursing, nappy changing breaks in between. For mothers who are still recovering from delivery, they can always opt to have a photoshoot to be done at home.

There is no one way to doing newborn photography, some parents prefer a minimalistic approach for an artistic results, other parents want a natural, lifestyle approach that captures essences of their young family. To achieve good results, we place great emphasis on communicating with clients to understand their expectations and wants.

The beauty of this type of photography is capturing the uniqueness and details of each baby- the Mongolian blue spots, tiny toes and fingers, distinctive cheeky grins, wispy hair, the sweet little yawn, anguish expression before they bawled. Even intimate feeding moments between mom and baby can evoke many treasured memories for years to come.

Babies grow up fast, in a blink of an eye, memories could have easily become fuzzy. It is precisely why this type of photography are so important.

Tips for those who are keen to engage us for your newborn babies, simply talk to us about what you want and not want. Involve siblings into the family picture, and bring along precious mementos that you want to include during photoshoot.

We’ll be more than happy to answer your queries, simply drop us an email at info@bambiniphoto.sg so we can chat further about creating your family moments.

Why Photographs matter… | Newborn, Maternity, Family Photography | Bambini Gift Vouchers

www.bambiniphoto.sg

“I would part with my wallet, phones and camera but definitely try to negotiate for my memory card”, said a friend, when asked a hypothetical question of what she would do during a tussle with a robber.

Call it bravery or lunacy, we can all agree that the statement above hold some truths. Ask your friends or people about what they when they have to vacate their homes during an emergency, chances are they would take their most prized photographs along with important documents.

The impulse to save our recorded memories is a powerful testament that tells us much about the importance of photography in our lives, and also the desire to capture and immortalise our most precious moments into images.

Photographs are wonderful thing. When we are happy we like to look at them, to remember the joyous occasions. And we do the same thing when we’re feeling down or sad. We scroll the photos on our social media account and reminisce upon photo albums that have keenly served as serve as a tangible memoir to help us remember essentially the great past times with people we care about. Also in a lot of cases, to remember the ones who have left us behind.

We couldn’t think of any person who would not like to be photographed. Maybe there are individuals out there, but perhaps their numbers are few to come.

Presenting someone with a photography session that they and their families can enjoy is thoroughly a rewarding thing. We have yet to come across any family who refuses to be photographed, in actuality, most would jump at the chance to have their moments captured.

How to Get Kids to Engage and Smile For Camera | Children and Family Photography Singapore

As parents ourselves, we know that things can get pretty out of hand when children are involved. Nothing ever goes as planned but more often than not, it is exactly that unpredictability that makes the spontaneous moments that we remember for years and make up for the stories that continue to haunt them as we retell them at family gatherings.

Photographing children can be quite daunting for unseasoned photographers. Most children do not like posing for the camera and get easily distracted by their surroundings and that can be difficult for photographers to capture the moment as everything is unraveling way too fast. So out-of-focus and blurry pictures are often common when it comes to photographing kids.

Having learned, played and photographed thousands of babies, toddlers, children and teenagers, we can confidently say that we are quite the pro when it comes to children photography.

So today we are going to share with you some insider tips and insights on how to ace it.

Children comes in all shapes, sizes and behaviours. You can consider yourself lucky if you get to work with children who take instructions easily but in most cases it is hardly the case – they are children. And the best thing about children is, they don’t follow the rules.

1. Breaking the ice

Just before we approach any photography session, it’s best to leave it to the parents to gain a better understanding of the kids. Parents will be asked to fill-up questionnaires to help us know about the children.

The information given to us can really help us break the ice with the kids and family. If we know what they [the kids] enjoy doing, we’ll know how to engage them.

2. Being patient and observant pay off

Patience is the number one key when dealing with the little ones. We don’t have to coerce kids to do what they don’t want to do. We absolutely advised parents against disciplining their children when things get out of hand during a photoshoot. It should be a fun and rewarding experience for all, so no one should be upset. This is the time where your children can get messy, dynamic and spontaneous for our camera to capture their personality.

We recalled this incident where a kid who wasn’t keen on having his photos taken, then we saw that his bag was pinned with minecraft badges… so we figured he must like it… we asked him about it and he started opening up. The rest of the shoot in the botanic gardens became us playing in a minecraft world attacking minecraft monsters. It was really fun!

It worked and sometimes we need just to pay closer attention to get the children’s.

3. Playtime is mandatory

Telling kids to pose and smile don’t always work, so we PLAY, have fun, eat snacks. It helps if they are your children’s favourite,

We laid out all the toys, balloons, cupcakes, kitchen sets, for the children to go crazy with. It is after all their time to shine so let them do their job and everything will be swell.

4. Being a part-time clown works too

We believe in engaging with the children. Because what’s a photography session without some fun injected to it?

Some of the things we do include, tickling the kids with fake flowers. Making funny fart noises , peek-a-boo, or sneezing just to catch their attention.

Even our singing voices are put to the test at times where we felt like we just did a Hi-5 concert!

5. Know your subjects in and out, and if you don’t find out!

Always get to the children’s level, not just eye-level. What we found that works wonder is to keep talking to them, eye-to-eye. Helping them to get comfortable with us, the photographers is crucial, because children tend to be wary and become withdrawn in an unfamiliar environment.

Ask them a bunch of questions, it might take a while for them to answer, but once you hit the right one, they will start opening up and smile for you. And the rest is history. This works highly with children who are on the shy side.

6. Treat everything with spontaneity

There are children who just can’t sit still, no matter what tricks you have up your sleeves. In turn, asking them to stay quiet for a shot can upset them. So making sure we are versatile and flexible is key to getting the perfect shot.

Asking kids who love running up and down to sit still won’t work… maybe for the first few shots… but forcing them can upset the kid, but if they don’t do it, it can upset the parents. So we always go for the rewarding system. We would tell the kids to run but specifically cue them to smile while running, in which gives us the perfect moment to take my shots. So they can be running round and round for us to get the shots, but everyone is happy. And that’s all that matters eventually.”

For kids with siblings, we would usually encourage them to play together and set it so that both personalities are captured, these usually make perfect ‘siblings-moments’ photos.

We feel that should be enough for now to equip you with a better understanding of the behind-the-scenes. Knowing what gear and equipment to use and planning ahead is necessary but it all boils down to the basics, which is, knowing your subjects and to be in tune and intuitive to their needs are what makes good children photographer.
