We had a colourful maternity outdoor photoshoot and when it was time for the newborn photo session at home, I had no doubt, I got to bring my colourful props along to their home!
I was really excited to use all my vibrant and rich-coloured props, and tried some new fabrics that I had too.
Also, not forgetting to include mummy’s my little pony toys that we used for the maternity photo session, adding a similar shade of blue and purple to baby’s photo with the toys.
And it’s always nice to know that mummy and daddy love the images we created.

It was the children’s cartoon ‘Epic’ that leaves a lasting memory because one of the leavesman mentioned something very profound.
He said, “Many leaves, one tree. We’re all individuals, but we’re still connected. No one’s alone.”
It served as a though-provoking reminder even more so for mothers out there that they are never alone.
No matter what happens, when a woman becomes a mother, she is never truly an individual anymore, in an abstract sense.
Because a mother always carry her child in her heart.
And that’s the beauty of mother hood.
This is a continuation from the newborn photography post we published a while ago.
Only this time we have the whole clan spanning four generations in one family shot.
It is heartwarming having witness this family from great-grandmothers to the great grand-child.
It is not often that we are graced by the presence of formidable golden age women in our studio.
“All of us grow up in particular realities- a home, family, a clan, a small town, a neighborhood. Depending upon how we’re brought up, we are either deeply aware of the particular reading of reality into which we are born , or we are peripherally aware of it.” – Chaim Potok
It must be wonderful to grow up in a family with this myriad of characters around.
We’d love to see them again in our studio or even their homes for a another momentous photo session.
Posing a newborn for newborn photography takes requires a lot of hours of practice.
A handful of people may have the natural prowess when it comes to handling baby, they somewhat understand what the baby needs, or when they were about to cry or even laugh. While for many others, handling a baby requires a lot of learning experience, in which they have to study and inject many hours into understanding and learning the anatomy of a baby, reading books to know what position or poses that babies might prefer, all that- to hone their skills.
Our mentor, Hart is one such person who falls in the minority. He is what we call the “Baby-Whisperer”, he can anticipate when a baby is going to smile, when they need to be fed and always the moment he cradles a newborn, they’d magically stop crying.
Posing newborn requires a great deal of understanding of a baby- what is comfortable and not for the little one. Therefore it was appalling when we see a renowned photo studio who posted a newborn shoot- who simply placed the baby on a prop, his legs not properly tucked in to elevate and give his the greatest comfort and his face shadowed and buried by the fabric that is not properly pillowed.
Photography is one thing, however the greatest priority still lies in making sure the newborn are feeling comfortable throughout the photo session.
