Saree and All Things Glitter | Maternity Studio Photography

We had so much fun doing this maternity shoot.

This couple came in to the studio prepared with idea, costumes and props -the whole shebang.

One of the easiest client we’ve ever had, they are photogenic and take instructions really well.

We absolutely love the saree and head accessories she brought, it adds a certain exotic element to the images produced.

The chemistry between the two of them is electric, and it exudes on the photos…

The husband is so supportive and encouraging. Throughout the whole shoot, he was acting like the cheerleader, constantly praising her.

This reminds us of the supposedly love letter written by Brad Pitt to Angelina Jolie that went viral on the internet, we still cannot certify its authenticity but we definitely think it’s sweet.

Here is the letter:

She gained weight, was no longer nervous and she loved me even more than ever. I had no clue that she CAN love that much.

Metamorphosis | Maternity and Newborn Photography

We had the pleasure of taking both maternity and newborn photography for this lovely couple [family].

We have taken a number of pre and post pregnancy photos and yet it never fails to amaze us when we witness the transformation of those women who have gone through labour and emerged from it a champ.

We are reminded to pause and enjoy the miracle of life, the changes in someone.

These days, the decision to become parents is becoming more obscure with rising cost of living. For some women, motherhood is instinct-like, while a handful others may not have a clue on how to handle children.

People change, we grow, we manifest into something else, a better version of ourselves.

Becoming parents follow the same ideology, where changes and grow are palpable. Some grow with their children, others grow for their children, and maybe a handful more found that they’ve reach the maximum of their growth route.

But likening metamorphosis where the caterpillar transformed into a butterfly, the process of parenthood and motherhood are both equally magical and a life-changing experience.

“When God Created Mothers”

When the Good Lord was creating mothers, He was into His sixth day of “overtime” when the angel appeared and said. “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one.”

(www.bambiniphoto.sg) And God said, “Have you read the specs on this order?” She has to be completely washable, but not plastic. Have 180 moveable parts…all replaceable. Run on black coffee and leftovers. Have a lap that disappears when she stands up. A kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair. And six pairs of hands.”

The angel shook her head slowly and said. “Six pairs of hands…. no way.” (www.bambiniphoto.sg)

It’s not the hands that are causing me problems,” God remarked, “it’s the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have.”

That’s on the standard model?” asked the angel. God nodded.

One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks, ‘What are you kids doing in there?’ when she already knows. Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn’t but what she has to know, and of course the ones here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up and say. ‘I understand and I love you’ without so much as uttering a word.”

I can’t,” said God, “I’m so close to creating something so close to myself. Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick…can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger…and can get a nine year old to stand under a shower.”

The angel circled the model of a mother very slowly. “It’s too soft,” she sighed.

But tough!” said God excitedly. “You can imagine what this mother can do or endure.”

Can it think?”

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek.

There’s a leak,” she pronounced. “I told You that You were trying to put too much into this model.”

Silhouetted Bump | Maternity Studio Photography

We have been very inspired by a lot of the silhouetted maternity photography images that seems to be on the surge these days.

Silhouette techniques involved an extensive knowledge and technique when it comes to projecting the light to get a soft huey, almost dreamy like image.

There are those who like this genre of photography, as it provides a sort of a canvas, or anonymity yet still able to achieve that classy and elegant look that bodes well with expectant mothers.

There is a certain artistic kick or twist to the picture that makes these “semi-nude” pictures looked very becoming.

We have Annie Leibovitz to thank for it. She was the first break the norm and started the whole maternity photography trend which was once considered controversial by emblazoning the heavily pregnant Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair in 1991.

Since then, many photographers have attempted and produced maternity images of women who’d like to capture their pregnancy moment.
