Ditch The Phone – Incorporate New Experiences With Your Kids This School Holidays

School Holidays Activity Ideas

When school holidays approaches, parents start to look for things to fill their days when the kids are home. It’s also usually the school holidays where parents create new experiences for the kids and perhaps for themselves at the same time.

Duchess of Cambridge (now Princess of Wales) revealed in her Happy Mum, Happy Baby Interview Podcast in 2020 that she tries to incorporate a lot of experiences that her granny gave her; into the experiences she give to her children now. Doing simple things like taking a walk, cooking, doing arts and crafts and essentially spending time together. Here are a few ideas that families can do with their kids this school holidays.

1. Reconnect With Nature This School Holidays

Take a break from the city life and reconnect with nature. Get outdoors and spice up your healthy living habits by exploring the nature reserves and parks via the Park Connector Network of Singapore (PCN)!

Whether it’s cycling, walking, running or hiking, take some time away from the screens and dive into an adventure like no other? It’s a great way to get the whole family involved with physical activity and bonding.

Get out and make some lasting memories while staying active in spectacular sights around our garden city.

2. Cooking Or Baking Together

Bonding experiences in the kitchen are invaluable for both parents and children. In pre-schools, the kids get to do pretend play at the kitchen corner. When you cook or bake together with the kids, the little ones get to watch the process of making real food from scratch, and they even get to help out! Not only do they learn how to make delicious dishes, but also how to practice delayed gratification by creating something together over time.

After a successful batch of cookies or tasty pasta dish, not only are bellies satisfied, but memories made that last a lifetime – ones that will definitely be looked back on one day with a grateful heart and childlike smile. So get the kids involved today – let them know they’re just as important in the kitchen as dad and mom!

3. Playing Games During School Holidays

If you’re looking for some good old-fashioned fun, nothing beats playing games with your family!  Playing games is an timeless way to bring together people of all ages and have a great time.

From card games like uno, to board classics such as Monopoly, or even some of the amazing video games gets everyone to increase their team work skills to bring everyone together For the younger kids, the exercise allow them to practice and learn to take turns.

You might be surprised just how much fun you can have while making good memories at the same time. Get competitive, joke around and enjoy each other’s company while doing something active that’ll make everyone laugh!

4. Create Something Together This School Holidays

We all take far too many photos these days. From selfies to record keeping photos; saving photos  taken by the preschool teachers. With the average person spending over three hours on their phone every day, it’s no wonder our photo libraries are overflowing. But what good are all those pictures if they’re just sitting on our phones, never to be seen again?

This school holidays, why not involve your kids and family in compiling their memories? Go through your family photos together, shortlist the ones you want to print and make into photo albums or even for scrap booking. You can sort the photos by year and compile those photos into a yearly like some of our clients have done. It’s a great bonding activity and a rewarding experience to look back on those happy memories for years to come. It’s a celebration of little moments that benefit us even if they’re small.

5. Go On An Adventure

Exploring new places in your own country can be a fun and rewarding adventure. Taking the time to engage with new cultures, unfamiliar sights, and different sounds, can be energizing and inspiring. Take advantage of the opportunity, no matter where you live – hit the beach to watch a sunset, visit an old temple or take a night time stroll through the city. Be a tourist all over again. As a tourist you’ll be inspired by new experiences as you observe and learn from all that new environment has to offer – new life stories, food specialties and beautiful scenery. So no matter how often you’ve traveled before – don’t forget to take some time out and explore the new side of Singapore that’s waiting for you!

What Now?

This school holidays, don’t forget to prioritise family bonding. With the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, it’s easy to take time with those closest to us for granted.

There are many ways to share some special moments together. From getting outside in nature, cooking together in the kitchen, playing games on the couch, creating something together; whatever you decide on there will be an invaluable return – quality time spent with your loved ones!

Put aside all distractions from daily life – unplug from work emails and Netflix binges – and go on an adventure together.

Above all else, remember to have fun! And if you find yourself needing help in compiling photos into an album to keep those good times alive, then don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Celebrate Father’s Day – Family Photoshoot

Father’s Day celebration in 2021 is going to be different, mostly scaled down compared to before.

Dedicating this post to all fathers out there, men who are enablers, men who have provided, men who have taught, men who protect, men who spend their days constructing and reconstructing fatherhood.

Let us rewind and understand more about how fatherhood came to be.

Centuries ago, fathers primarily served as breadwinners, disciplinarians, someone who instilled moral and religious values – caring for children was left only to women. These days fatherhood takes on a more evolved role, gone are the days when fathers merely provided for the family financially.

Modern-day fathers come in many forms and we have been blessed to work alongside, get involved with and witness fatherhood through our family photography. To see a relationship between mother and child is heartwarming and special; yet when we witness the dynamics between father and child, it speaks for itself.

It is said that the greatest mark of a father is how he treats his children when no one is looking. As an observer and photographer, we notice the subtlety to capture the bonds between children and their fathers.

It is never easy to be a father, we’ve heard it from our clients. How clueless they were when they first started, where they do not know what hits them most of the time. It is scary and daunting, but rewarding at the same time. Fatherhood is not something to be learned in school but something you experience along the way with the birth of each child. Watching your child grow, noticing their quirks, realizing they have picked up your habits and growing together.

Naveen Jain once said that, “ Being a father has been, without a doubt, my greatest source of achievement, pride and inspiration. Fatherhood has taught me about unconditional love, reinforced the importance of giving back and taught me how to be a better person.”

His words cannot be more true.

So for this Father’s Day, do take the time to give thanks and acknowledge your father for what he has done and not.

They are the hands that hold you when you need the guidance. They are the ones who will come down and talk to your bullies. Their willpower and tenacity has put you through school. They are the ones to give you a piggyback ride. They have shown you the ropes.

To all the men who have shown us the ropes, we thank you.

We dedicate this to you, all fathers, dads, padre, abah, papa, papi, bapak.

I’ve done professional photos twice already with Bambini. It’s a great experience every time. And the photos they take are absolutely great quality! They are also very accommodating to my requests, and turn around time was fast. Totally worth every penny I paid. Great job Bambini! Keep it up! – Queenie, Jan 2021

This is my 3rd time engaging photography services from Bambini and my return visits are proof that they provide really good quality shots and service! My daughter is someone who is slow to warm up to but my assigned photographer, Syafiq managed to make her smile and laugh in the end. Love the photos alot and will definitely consider Bambini again for future family shoots! – Derrick & Crystal, Feb 2021

The Best Gift You Can Give | Bambini Photography Gift Vouchers

What Is That Best Gift You Can Give?

      Give the gift of time!

If you think about it, we are a time-scarce society…

      …”I’m busy”…

      …”I just don’t have the time”….

      …”Not now…”

are the common phrases we always use in our daily conversations. Before we know it, time has slipped us by…

Your kids have grown up, they are starting to look like little adults and not quite like chubby babies anymore.

Your parents have aged… They are no longer like before…. grey hair overtaking the head, common ailments that comes with age starts to appear fast and furious…

      And you cannot rewind time.

But here’s what you can do, you can look at photographs and remember…

Even better, your photographs can tell stories to your children, and your memories become theirs.

“Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time.” – Jim Rohn

More than just good photos we want to offer, but also a good time here with us, with your family.

Your photoshoot doesn’t get you just pictures, but quality time with your family…

In a world addicted to speed, let’s SLOW DOWN.

Enter into the present moment with all of your attention, and time will slow…

      Let’s think about it…

When was the last time you had your family photos taken professionally?

      Was it at your Wedding?

Your Graduation Family Shoot 5 years ago?

      Never Done One Before?

Perhaps its time to start thinking about organising one for your family? Parent’s 60th/70th or 80th Birthday, Other half’s 40th, 50th birthday; Kid’s birthday; or

Drop a super big hint to your other half by gifting them a family photoshoot gift voucher. They simply have to make time to come to utilise it. No more excuses.

What about your boss, colleagues, mentors, clients, friends or relatives working very very hard for the their every day?

Perhaps its time to get together to gift them a family photo session to celebrate time and update their family photos with their parents; kids or altogether in a big family photoshoot.

When Is The Best Time For Your Baby Photoshoot? | Baby Milkbath Photography

We’re asked this often, “When is the best time for baby’s photoshoot?”

And we would really just like to tell you anytime is a good time for us…

But let’s look at why at 100 days or around the 3rd month, it is one of the best time for some pictures too!

      Why 100 Days Baby Photoshoot?

      1) Tradition? Perhaps… but this is what we’ve heard… 100 days commemorates the full 1 year from the time you conceive, and it signifies the hope for the baby to live to a 100 years old.

      2) It’s the time when your baby is all chub chub and baby rolls are your latest obsession and how you just can’t get enough of those fishball cheeks, so much so you just want to keep kissing them!

      3) More Experience in Handling Your Baby

How you’ve experience such a steep learning curve when your newborn just entered into the world and absolutely changed yours, but now at the 3rd or 4th month, you’ve gain better momentum and you’ve become quite the pro at handling your babe… Now you’re ready for some lights, camera and action!

      4) You Might Still Be On Maternity Leave

If you’re having a 4months maternity leave, then you’re still be on leave! There’s more flexibility timing-wise, and on our part, we’ll do our best to find the timeslot you like and works well depending on your baby’s schedule.

      5) Baby is More Alert & Engaging

At the 3rd/4th month, your baby at this age watches faces intently, recognizes familiar objects and people at a distance, smiles more, turns head towards the direction of sound, and all those tummy time and stretching – we will get those photos of your baby engaging and interacting with you more :)

      6) New – Baby Milk Bath Photography In Studio

Last but not least, it’s because we’ve something new in store for your baby of 3 months and it is completely new in town!

And we like to introduce you to baby milk bath photography… What’s even better, you can just come soak and enjoy – like a spa for you and your babe!

More importantly, we use the best milk bath ingredients imported from Japan and it moisturizes your skin and smells really good too.

Is It Safe For 100 Days Young Baby?

You and your baby’s safety and comfort is also our topmost priority, we’ve added an imported bath tub as well as water temperature control system in our studio, so we can get ready the milkbath at the optimum temperature you need.

We also have control of our own air-conditioning, and we can adjust that to your liking.

All these are indoor for your comfort and privacy.

Can We Do Milk Bath Maternity + Baby Shoot (Before & After)?

5 Things You Need to Know About Newborn Photography Before Hiring A Newborn Photographer

      1. Know Why and What You Want

I know, I know… it is isn’t always straight forward to figure out what you want in life.

First thing first… Are you looking at something that is “in” thing today which chances are, will be dated and over in a couple of years? While you want to keep it, on the other hand it is just an eye sore. Think about those shoulder pads… may look good if you are going to an 80’s party, but I am sure, you will probably be saying “it was the fashion trend at that time!” whenever you have a visitor. But of course, some of you love that and there is nothing wrong if you prefer to live today to its fullest and don’t worry about the future.

There is on the other hand, people who love classic minimalistic stuff which will stand the test of time. Think Rolex watch, Mercedes Benz kind of classic styling that still look great today.

Or Perhaps, you are bit of both and say, “Why choose?”

We could brain storm with you on what you love and suggest something that fit in your vision on what you want to achieve for your newborn baby. After all, it is a decision you make like when you had your wedding. Its one in a lifetime thing for your baby and you really don’t want them growing up and say… “ewww”…

Have a chat with us and see how we can bring your vision to life…

      2. What Kind of Skills Do You Need Your Photographer to Have?

This may not be obvious and you will only know it when you use the service. Technical know-how is a basic stuff that every photographer should know. An accredited master photographer gives you the assurance that they know their technical stuff.

However, beyond the basic technical ability to conduct a safe and comfortable shoot, is the ability of managing the baby.

A photographer who has managed a lot of babies will be someone that know how to safely manage your baby and offer you the experience.

As parents, your only concern should be, best images done by someone who know the technical stuff and deliver the safest possible way in capturing those special moments in your life.

Talk to our professional team and see how we can help.

      3. Choose a newborn photographer can take great shots and knows how to handle the baby well too!

#1 priority would be the safety of your baby. What define a great newborn photographers like ours are the soft skills that manages your baby through out the shoot and these includes:

      * being able to understand and read the behaviour of the newborn

      * anticipate moments, to predict a newborn’s need,

      * soothe wailing babies,

      * where to touch in the face to make a tot grin for the camera.

      * knowing when enough is enough for the baby

      * how to calm anxious first time parents

      * knowing that baby is about to poop;

      * knowing if the baby had been ‘fully burped’ before continuing;

      * knowing when baby needs a feed despite the fixed 2.5-3 hour feeding schedule.

The soft skills our photographers learnt over the years did not come naturally. Each go through ‘excruciating’ yet memorable moments of being urinated on, pooped on, vomited on and from one diapers to another and the experience. All the mentioned soft skills required to be a baby whisperer is earned through hard work and working and photographing different newborns in various circumstances.

It is not through sheer chance that we become one of the leading Singapore Newborn Photographers. When our parent company, Tomato Photo started a decade ago, newborn photography was almost unheard of in Singapore. Most new parents are still sticking to the traditions of confinements, not keen on the idea of going out of the house before the 30-days period- much less having to be photographed. The trends are changing, words got around, people budgeted for newborn photoshoots and newborn photography gained an edge these days, as modern parents realised the importance of capturing memories of their little bundle at their early stages of being born.

      4. Newborn photography can be done both at home or in the studio.

Majority of the people think that the only way to achieve professional looking shots is at photographer’s studio.

We understand that people still would like to observe their confinement, hence having professional quality images is about transporting the equipments and props to your home and we love doing that because our vision is simply to help parents capturing and preserving memories.

Of course, sometimes, it is nice to “escape” from home and go to a studio, we have built ours as cosy as home, so you can come and relax while we do all the work for you while you enjoy the the process of the shoot.

So be it in home or studio, the quality is assured with bambini and to figure out which one works best for you, give our team a call and they are able to help you out.

With 3 professional newborn photographers, we always have a spot for you.

      5. One newborn photoshoot session can last up to 3 hours.

Each session often last for up to three hours with nursing, nappy changing breaks in between. For mothers who are still recovering from delivery, they can always opt to have a photoshoot to be done at home.

There is no one way to doing newborn photography especially with the myriad of styles available in the market these days. Parents have their own individual preferences to the styles they are after when hiring a newborn photographer. Some prefer a simplistic minimalistic approach for an artistic results, other parents want a natural, lifestyle approach that captures essences of their young family and others love the colours and that the wraps and props do to dress up the shoot.

For us here in Bambini Photography, our vision is to make memories, tell your stories through professional photography for generations to come. In order to achieve the results that you are looking for, we work closely with clients to understand what clients’ expectations and wants are. Although we can do various styles of newborn shoots, we tend to lean towards keeping it simple to create minimalistic look to show more of the baby, their expressions and the connection between baby and the family. All our newborn shoots comes with images in colour and black and white.

Babies grow up fast, in a blink of an eye, memories can easily become fuzzy. It is precisely why this type of photography is so important.

Tips for those who are keen to engage us for your newborn babies, simply talk to us about what you want and not want. Involve siblings in the family picture, and bring along precious momentos that you want to include during photoshoot.

We’ll be more than happy to answer your queries, simply drop us an email at info@bambiniphoto.sg or call or WhatsApp us at +6587171558 or Message Us in Messenger so we can chat further about creating your family moments.

Fatilyn was great! Very professional, quick and good with babies and older kids. We did the newborn (8 days old) plus family photoshoot. The basic edited photos were turned around very quickly and sent to us for selection. We would recommend Bambini to others especially those families who are nervous about how their newborn will be handled and those having trouble organizing their active little kids. Bambini will put you at ease and your photos will be perfect!
